Giada, a provider of embedded PCs, embedded motherboards, server and storage appliances, has announced the AP23 series Pico boards, new additions to its Intel® Apollo Lake platform products. The new 100mm x 72mm motherboards, which include two models: the AP23-E3930 and AP23-N3350, offer ideal indoor and outdoor support for industrial, retail and digital signage solutions.
Especially notable is the AP23-E3930, a small form factor industrial control motherboard that leverages the performance of the Intel® Apollo Lake platform and the Intel Atom x5-E3930 CPU. AP23-E3930 is ideal for demanding environments – for example in industrial automation control and digital signage applications. The Atom x5-E3930 CPU allows the AP23-E3930 to handle an extremely wide operating temperature range of -20° C to 60° C (approximately -4° F to 140° F), with appropriate airflow. Giada’s board design further enhances reliability and durability by using the popular Phoenix DC-IN connector for a more stable and sturdy power connection.
For indoor applications, Giada is offering the similarly-equipped Giada AP23-N3350, based on the Intel Celeron N3350 CPU. The AP23-N3350 is very suitable for digital signage, such as shelf displays in retail environments. This board can offer an operating temperature range from 0° C to 60° C (approximately 32° F to 140° F).
Great connectivity for industrial and signage
To provide flexible display connection choices for customers, the board supports either an HDMI port (up to 3840 x 2160 pixels @30Hz) or dual channel LVDS ports (1920 x 1080 pixels @60Hz), a compact transmission interface supporting digital screens. Extensive I/O and storage features include Gigabit Ethernet, 3 USB ports (2x USB 3.0), SATA and mSATA, M.2 (2230) for WiFi, and two RS232 headers.
To fulfill expansion needs, AP23 incorporates a proprietary customizable Board Input/Output interface (BIO) that supports access to the low pin count (LPC) Super I/O, Trusted Platform Module (TPM), network controllers, and a mix of USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, ensuring the AP23’s flexibility and connectivity in field applications.
