Active Backplate: EK announces water-cooled backplate for RTX 3090

At EKWB, we learn that the brand announces the arrival of a new product related to custom watercooling. Indeed, the brand lifts the veil on its EK-Quantum Vector FE RTX 3090 Active Backplate. These are watercooling backplates for graphics cards!

Active Backplate: EKWB actively cools the back of the RTX 3090 FE!

RTX 3090 Founders active backplateThe purpose of this component on your graphics card is to cool the back of your RTX 3090 FE actively. Indeed, on the market, we have passive backplates, where no fluid or fan is present and active models. In this second case, a liquid will circulate inside and will further improve the cooling of your card.

In this case, the “backplate” will connect to the waterblock with a new terminal. By the way, it will replace the original one of the waterblock and will eliminate the superfluous inputs/outputs. The objective is to have only one input and output. Despite this, we have four threads in G1/4″ to choose the orientation of the tubbing.

As always, we find a product made of nickel-plated electrolytic copper. Likewise, we have an acetal part and an acrylic window to see the liquid flowing in. Of course, this backplater will cool the areas where the GPU, memory and power stages are located.

Finally, a quick word about the footprint, since it is not a simple “sheet”, but a rather thick set. Once installed, the card will take up one more expansion slot in your PC.

On the price side, this Active Backplate will clearly not be cheap since it is ~250 €. Two colors are proposed with black or nickel without forgetting the aRGB lighting present on these two versions.

Here is the technical sheet of EKWB!
