At the price the AK-965 retails for (£11), we found its performance surprisingly good. Its thermal performance not only annihilates that of the factory cooler but also is able to compete with many other much more expensive CPU coolers. Unfortunately the AK-965 is not quiet at all when the fan is running at maximum speed, but it is not annoyingly loud either. When we allowed the motherboards PWM to take control of the fan speed the AK-965 was entirely quiet while our CPU was running at stock speed. When we overclocked our CPU it was relatively quiet while the CPU was idle, yet it would speed up considerably when the CPU was under heavy load in order for the core temperatures to remain within acceptable limits.
