Akasa AK 965 Cooler

Akasa AK 965 Cooler

Final Words and Conclusion

What we did like:

Akasa’s AK-965 is a very capable cooler. The unit offers very good overall performance at a very low retail price and the PWM fan allows the end user to control the balance between thermal and acoustic performance through the BIOS settings of the motherboard, it is also extremely easy to install.

What we did not like:
As much as we would like to find a serious flaw with the AK-965, we couldn’t. The AK-965 will certainly not offer the best thermal performance of any air cooler we have tested, but it certainly offers great bang for the buck.

Who would we recommend it to:
We can easily recommend the Akasa AK-965 cooler to everyone shopping for an aftermarket socket 775 CPU cooler who wants the best value for their money. Discerning enthusiasts who want great appearance as well as thermal and/or acoustic performance would be advised to look elsewhere, it is a rather ordinary looking unit. There are many coolers which perform and/or look better, but they cost much more than the AK-965 and most would offer only a minor performance advantage. The Akasa AK-965 has excellent thermal performance, good acoustics and is extremely easy to install and costs just as little as a very basic OEM cooler. It justly receives our Gold Award as it certainly is a top class product in the price range.

The Akasa AK-965 can be found at for £10.99 + VAT.
