AMD: the RX 6700M already tested against the RTX 3070 Max-Q

After the 6600M and 6800M, it’s the turn of the 6700M to have the right to its first reviews. A good competitor to the RTX 3070 Max-Q?

First reviews of the 6700M

Coming straight from the Chinese website zhihu, the user hfwwm to whom we already had the test of the 6600M, comes back this time if with the new RX 6700M.

GPU Z 6700M

The card uses a Navi 22 chip with 36 CU (2304 cores), having a 160 bit bus with 10GB of GDDR6 and 80MB ofinfinity cache. Regarding power consumption, the 6700M can be set at different GPUs between 80W, 110W and 135W.

According to the author, based on the frequency and his tests, MSI would have chosen to set the TGP to 110W.

6700M consommations

Thanks to the use of AMD SmartShift, during scenes that require the GPU, the 6700M consumes up to 116W and the 5900HX 15W, conversely during scenes where the processor is heavily used, the consumption rises to 47.5W for the 5900HX and drops to 82.3W for the 6700M.

Really faster than the 3070 Max-Q?

6700M performance

Regarding gaming performance, the reviewer placed the 6700M in front of a Raze blade 14, equipped with a 3070 Max-Q configured at 90WIn this configuration, the 6700M present in the MSI delta 15 offers an average of 9% higher performance than the 3070 max-Q present in the Razer Blade 14.

But as you know, it is difficult to compare mobile GPUs, as many factors come into play (the power allocated to the GPU, the cooling design). Another review showing different figures where the card was slower than a 3070M equipping the MSI GP66, or even against 3060 of an unnamed Acer computer.
