Antec Roundup July 2014 – featuring Nineteen Hundred Case and Kuhler 950/1250

Performance and Conclusion

Notes:

Cooler testing was performed on Intels Devils Canyon i7-4790K CPU. PSU testing notes a single 12v rail, this s the worst performing rail on each PSU to keep the table size simple/easier to follow. All additional rails offered higher performance.

Let’s start this conclusion, and we will try to keep it brief given the amount of products, with the Nineteen Hundred. Overall it is a high quality case, very solid thanks to the steel construction and the finish is lovely across the entire unit. We like the overall styling too and there is a good amount of front panel connectors, as well as a good selection of fans as standard.

Inside there are a couple of design “blips” but overall it’s mainly positive. On the negative side the bottom chamber should be more modular as using a PSU the size of the HCP leaves little room for cabling. Being able to quickly slide out the first drive stack (tool free) would leave plenty of extra room and even some space for a pump/reservoir too. The rubber wiring covers are a little too flimsy for our liking and a few extra cable holes would be appreciated, especially one top, centre for the 8-pin cable as it can be a bit of a stretch as is. Minor issues really, especially when the rest of the chamber is so flexible in terms of GPU, motherboard and cooling compatibility.

Moving to the PSUs we have two units which are top quality. At first glance the TruePower Classic sounds a bit “value” but actually it is a good, gold quality unit. Decent electrical performance, good efficiency, low noise. Yes it lacks modular cables but a nicely balanced product overall. The HCP-1300 Platinum on the other hand goes all out. It offered great performance across our testing and retains a compact (for its class) footprint while also offering that ability to chain units together. We would think this will be really useful for those who mine currency.

So that brings us to the Kuhlers. There is very little to choose between the two models. Essentially they are the same unit just in different configurations to suit different cases. The 1250 with its dual pumps performs a touch better but both are great performers. We have to note that Antec’s CPU bracket is far too fiddly and could be better designed but it does work and the rest of the product looks and feels high quality… low noise operation too which is always a bonus.

Summary: A triple whammy of quality products from Antec. The Nineteen Hundred mixed with HCP-1300 and either of the Kuhlers would make for quite a system.

  1. Nice review, I am now looking at either this case or the H440 NZXT case.
