ASRock Interview

ASRock Interview

Today in our ASRock Interview we talk to them about their latest motherboards (AMD/INTEL) and systems.

Q1) If you were to pick one thing that separates ASRock from the competition, what would it be?

Integrity. We take Gandhi’s quote on “Commerce without morality” as a sin in all seriousness. To be fair, motherboard manufacturing isn’t charity, and our main goal is to profit, however there are certain lines that we don’t and will never cross. Such as exploitation, false advertising, planned obsolescence. And most of all, selling overpriced garbage by merely slapping on a logo.

Q2) Looking at some specific products, your new X99 OC Formula features a Conformal Coating. Tell our readers what that is and why it is important to them.

Conformal Coating has been around since our launch of Z87 OC Formula. It’s a transparent layer of chemistries applied to our OC series, which makes the motherboards invulnerable to conductive liquids, corrosion and dust. This is especially useful for extreme overclockers, since their systems are often built without using a computer case.

Q3) Conformal Coating based boards increase the warranty available, correct?

ASRock is offering a minimum 3 year warranty to the MB with Conformal coating as we have confidence in the quality.

Q4) Of course ASRock has been creating enthusiast boards for a while, including those under the Fatal1ty brand. Can you tell our readers what key features the Fata1ity boards offer?

Killer LAN which accelerates game traffic ahead of other network traffics, Purity Sound 2 or Creative Sound Core3D for immersive audio, and a customizable Fatal1ty mouse port. Aside from pursuing better performance, there’s also Super Alloy and Gaming Armor feature sets which includes high quality components and neat designs that improve stability. Lastly, the mouse and keyboard enhancing tool Key Master, and a free bundle of XSplit 3 month premium.

Q5) Intel has been moving their products forward in recent months with the launch of Z97 and more recently X99. If you had to pick a board for each chipset which offers a balance of price and features, which would you recommend to those building a new system today?

For Z97 I’d suggest Z97 Extreme4, which is a mid range safe bet. It’s complete with everything average users may expect, plus a few extra surprises. As for X99, I’d say X99X Killer is an all rounder that’ll satisfy gamers, enthusiasts, overclockers alike.

Q6) The last question covers the Intel side of things. What board for AM3+ and FM2+ stand out as offering the same great balance of performance an up to date features?

If you’re on team AMD, then 990FX Killer for AM3+ and FM2A88X Extreme4+ for FM2+ hands down. Both motherboards are robustly built by high quality components, and offer a generous selection of PCIe slots, ports and headers of every kind.

Q7) The M8 Series looks like a great little system to build a Steam Machine around. Tell our readers about its key features.

Our current build is crafted with aluminum alloy and uses a magnetic case design, plus a multipurpose OLED display panel called A-Command in the front. Inside the case gamers will find 802.11ac WiFi, Creative Sound Core3D and a 600w PSU. But the best thing about M8 is that it’s a standard mini-ITX barebone, meaning that unlike its other rivals, M8 is flexible when it comes to customization or future upgrades, so the key features will evolve periodically.

Q8) Is there anything new in the pipeline from ASRock that we can look forward to?

Yes, and in other news, water is wet. It’s all top confidential now, but I assure you that 2015 is going to be an exciting year.

Q9) Thanks for your time today, do you have any closing message for our readers?

Thank you for your interest for ASRock products. Please tune in to ASRock for future exciting news about our major product launches in 2015!
