ASUS ROG Maximus XII Extreme GUNDAM: a collector’s item?

ASUS ROG Maximus XII Extreme GUNDAM: a collector’s item?

In our test of the Asus ROG Maximus XII Extreme motherboard, we found a waterblock connector close to the socket. Since Asus had already got us used to offering motherboards from the “Extreme” series with a full waterblock, it didn’t take much to let us imagine an Extreme version in the Z490. Today, our colleagues at Videocardz are unveiling the Asus ROG Maximus XII Extreme GUNDAM.

ASUS ROG Maximus XII Extreme GUNDAMThis “Extreme GUNDAM” version will be equipped with an integral waterblock, the design of which has been entrusted, unsurprisingly, to the EK waterblocks brand. As far as its inspiration is concerned, it takes up the codes of the Japanese Gundamseries, of the mecha type. The color code is no exception with touches of white, yellow, blue and red that are not unlike the Gundam RX-78-2

It is difficult to say if we will be lucky enough to see this Asus ROG Maximus XII Extreme GUNDAM land in Europe since the number of cards should be quite limited and with priority availability in Japan. ASUS also plans to launch other GUNDAM and ZAKU products. We should expect a motherboard, AIO cooling, power supplies, and a new PC chassis and even new monitors.

As our colleagues point out, one wonders what the justification for such a card is, except for collectors, when we know that the Z590 chipset will be coming out in the coming months. Yes, yes, already..
