HIS Radeon HD3650 IceQ Turbo 512MB

The HIS HD3650 IceQ Turbo card arrives in a well designed box with a small window at the front, showing off the huge cooler HIS have installed. Unlike the majority in this test, HIS have added useful information to the box, useful for those people reading in a store. Inside you will find a offer for STEAM games, a basic quick installation manual, a drivers CD, a crossfire bridge connector, a DVI to D-Sub adapter and a DVI to HDMI adapter.

HIS have used a blue PCB for their premier HD3650 card. The product is cooled by a huge aluminum cooler, resembling the older Arctic Cooling Silencer solutions. It is a very silent and capable cooler which will exhaust the heat directly to the rear of your chassis, that said it also blocks the expansion slot beneath the card.

The IceQ Turbo is essentially an overclocked version of the HD3650 reference card. The core is clocked at 790MHz and the GDDR3 memory is running at 1.78GHz, which is quite an improvement over the 725MHz/1.4GHz of the reference design.

The card requires no external power and has two dual link DVI ports and a mini din port. By using a DVI to HDMI adapter the card supports 1080p and audio pass-through, making it ideal for HTPCs. It also has two Crossfire bridges, meaning that you can use multiple HD3650 cards if you want to enhance your system’s performance. You can also use any other HD3650 video card sporting 512MBs of GDDR3 memory in a crossfire configuration with the overclocked HIS card, but the HIS card will clock down to the speed of the slower card.
