CMP 50HX Miner : MSI launches a new card for miners!

At the moment, the news is all about mining. Between motherboards (Colorful and ASRock) and now, graphics cards, we are served. Indeed, MSI officially launches its CMP 50HX Miner, a card intended for the practice, but more energetic than the CMP 30 HX.

CMP 50HX Miner: a mining blower card from MSI!

MSI CMP 50HX MinerWith this model, MSI offers us a card equipped with a blower-type heatsink, the fans with the famous turbines. The latter will blow its cool air through a network of aluminum fins forming a tunnel. Finally, the hot air will be expelled through the card’s bracket, which is completely open due to the absence of video output. Mining card obliges. Nevertheless, this heatsink allows the card to have a strict double slot format. This allows a better spacing of the cards within a miner’s configuration.

At the GPU level, we will find the TU102 of the RTX 2080 Ti, but castrated. Indeed, this CMP 50HX has 3584 Cuda Core against 4532 for the 2080 Ti. This inevitably reduces the computing power, we go from 13.45 TFLOP in FP32 to 11 TFLOP on this model. On the other hand, for the mining, MSI announces 45 MH/s, that is to say a hashrate similar to that of the 2080 Ti according to the statements. The other difference compared to the consumer card is the amount of memory used. While there are 11GB of GDDR6 on the RTX, this CMP is cut by 1GB of memory, dropping to 10GB of VRAM.

All these small changes make the mining card less energy consuming. The RTX’s 250W is reduced to 225W here. In addition, it will always require dual 8-pin PCIe connectivity.

All that remains now is to know the selling price of this solution. As a reminder, the CMP 30HX were not cheap. Some models were priced at more than $700… So, imagine this one!

Here is the MSI datasheet !
