    They're not really competing products. USB3 is far cheaper to implement, especially on peripheral devices like HDDs, but even on motherboards - you can bet this (the new Asus board) will be far more expensive than the non-Thunderbolt equivalent (which is probably one of the workstation boards). Thunderbolt does a lot, lot, lot more. It's like a PCI-E slot and a monitor cable rolled into one.

    nice.. it's like half the size of a usb port..

    meaning it's likely to be 3x as likely to have to spin the connector around 180 degrees more often.

    Lol, I know. Just blowing smoke. Good points though.

    With the kind of bandwidth this thing can put out, I can't wait to see more thunderbolt RAID enclosures come down in price.
