What exactly is gained with flashing the BIOS of my ATI 8500LE to say 300/300? Couldn't I get the same effect by just overclocking the card to 300/300, or does the BIOS make it more stable?

If you flash the BIOS, it will detect as a Radeon 8500, and then you can do unethical things like sell the card as a genuine 8500!

    ..

Beats me. Just o/c it, I'd say.

no stablity gained just to option out the fact you dont always have to overclock it anymore using powerstrip and ragetweaker...

to be on the safe side i would first check to see if your card can handle 300/300...i bet not since its a LE. ok Le's are the same as retails but have lower voltages on the mem. 3.3V on the LE compared to the reatail which is 3.6V (could be wrong) you first must do a volt mod . click here for voltmad details :) next agian make sure you have it stable at that speed if so then be happy and you wont have to worry about overclocking it agian.

    good luck
