The 671MB demo has four levels of difficulty and explores parts of the single-player campaign. Included is the mission "the end of the beginning," which sees a squad of allied troops taking on The Third Reich in El Daba, Egypt, in 1942.

I dont' know what kind of computer you have Daim, but my machine it struggles at medium/low settings at 1024 by 768. I have an athlon xp 3200+, 1 gig of pc-3200 ram, an nvidia 6800 gt at ultra speeds, and I'm barely in the 30 FPS range. I hope they optimize the code a little better before release. It was pretty fun, but the graphics hithces were distracting to me.

I think I'll just go get it from a friend nextdoor who's already downloaded it when I get home, this one I gotta try, and try soon. I've been waiting but luckily they didn't keep me waiting too long. though I hate trying out demos coz they always somehow spoil the final game (esp. with these new generation games), yeah, I'm that type, I prefer to just get the full game and play through all the way. But for this one and a few others, I make an exception to this rule.

    Your right about the optimizing.

For some reason I was getting better fps while using 4x antialiasing (2-3 fps lower than not having any what so ever) than I did 2xAA.

Still, looks like its gonna be a great game. I loved the opening scene, seeing the town from afar.

Shame they've gotten rid of sprint though, and I would have liked to have tried out a sniper rifle.

With AF,4xAA in 1024x768 only 20fps, and with no AF and no AA 30fps. A little lower I think. Can be my CPU the problem ??

I'm seeing 25 - 30 FPS at 1280x1024 with AA and Trilinear on.

However, they really need to do some work on the settings screen. It looks like they made it for 240x100 or something and it gets really blurry at the higher resolutions.

I may try it at 1024x768 later on.

Ok how do i get FPS counter? I was getting smooth (and i mean smooth play) with 1280 X 1024 with aa 4x and af 8x. I had all the setting in the panel turned to medium and high with triliniar filters.... boy did this game look AMAZING. It also was very smooth not 1 stuter!

Ferret I just use FRAPS. Do a quick google search for it. It's an FPS counter for any 3d app pretty much. If you don't mind, report back here with your average frames? I'm curious to see whether or not this game runs better on an ATi card.

The command system is very much like Q3 Engine.. in fact it's the same. I found that out when I saw the game launch and the little console window popup.

Bring down the console. The option to enable console is in the Game Options section.

    FPS counter - cg_drawfps 1
    Refresh Rate - r_displayrefresh <insert refresh rate>

With my rig I'm getting ~33 FPS @ 1280 x 960 Trilinear and 2X AA. (Transparency AA is also at Super Sampling and Gamma Correction AA is also on). This game also needs Triple Buffering. It's smooth (no hitching), however I do hope it is better optimized so I can break the 40 FPS barrier so bigger fire fights etc. will not hinder me at other levels.

So the game looks great, however it feels like a mere makeover of COD with subtle changes (Not a bad thing entirely, mind you). I do enjoy the grenade button, but I wanted them to keep the sprint function from COD:UO which Splash Damage implemented. A.I is still quite silly. Enemies standing there staring at me..haha.

    I look forward to COD2 :)

Silly question... are rag-doll effects and other physics sort of stuff present in this game, or is it more like the others (tons of scripting). Either way, COD is by far my favorite game, but it would be nice to have all the bells and whistles.

did not even really look at the rag doll stuff... one strange thing is no health bar... you just get damage then get told to find cover. If you do you live otherwise you die... not sure i like that.
