anyone tried it or seen it done?

living here in vegas without a/c, my monitor tends to get awfully toasty...to the point it begins to smell like burning plastic. i've tried strategically placing a few different small desk fans around the top of it..but it tends to scramble my display pretty badly..even degaussing wont help with the emi the fans are giving off.

Well on those days you should be getting fresh air outside. Leave your computer off. And get out and see the sun.

LOL @ cyborg!!! but seriously a cool room is important.. a good sized fan should stop a monitor from overheating .. high temperatures are quite normal after prolonged use..is the picture screwing up?

the picture is fine as long as i keep any tv's, fans, and radios away from it...it just gets so friggin warm on top i could toss one of those jiffy-pop popcorn trays up there and roast it.

its no big deal i guess...just have to move out of the desert soon is all.

Where abouts in Vegas do you live?? I used to live there several years ago myself so I know just how hot it can get! As for you monitor getting cooled off, take a look here... http://www.mikhailtech.com/articles/monitorcooler.shtml I have seen a few of these fans working and though it doesn't really cool the monitor off much, its still a bit better than nothing at all. (esp where you're living!)
