No, thank you for not making your first post a flame towards DH or ATI :)

To reiterate what Veridian said before:

"I've asked Valve if 3dc is being used."

He's waiting for a response.

I really fail to see people problem here. Ok nvidia is slower, we were expecting that, but the fps is allot better than doom3 and very playable with aa and af certainly more than doom3 was with aa. Everyone gets good fps even the fx series. Ok the marketing departments may have a field day but as far as I can see everyone should have a good playing experience

Well lets hope he has better luck than me, I emailed valve (asking if they would be using 3dc for eye.candy or strickly performance.gains) 1 month ago, and Im still waiting for an answer

well no offense but you arent head reviewer for a large website. we talk to valve quite often about many things, and have interviewed a few of their staff. I already have info about 3DC and HL2 but im under NDA about it. if stu gets any info from valve then we can post it ...

Firing squad is using reflect world not reflect all which should explain the difference.

It's on the bottom of page 2.

Good point :D

Actully dident really expect them to answer it, as so many $ are potentially tied to that, however seeing the amount of emails answered (posted at the halflife2.net site) I figured it was worth a try....

I sincerely hope 3Dc gets used more than TruForm did :) It sure has more practical uses. :D

Same resolution by me, water reflections at "reflect world", trilinear, V-Syc disabled. See the result: 0xAA -> 74 fps, 2xAA 29 fps, 4xAA -> 27,5 fps, 6xAA -> 26 fps.
AF8x costs 8-10 frames only.

I ran VST x times, but these results are strange.

XP 2500+, 1024MB RAM, 9800 Pro 128 MB, cat. 4.8 WinXP SP2

OT: A little off topic but wouldn't the x800xtpe be better paired against the 6800ue?

did you put AA to app pref in CP and enabled AA through in game settings!

my AA was disabled in game but in CP they were 2xAA and 4xAF and also i ran in 800/600 and it came to be around 30fps.

my comp. p4 2.66 with 768 pc2700

i just ran the same test with my AMD 2500xp and my 6800gt at the same settings, i got 79 FPS i just can't dbelive the scores posted in your review something's wrong with your benchmark as a reputable website i would suggest redoing the benchmarks cause my system is nothing compared to the one used in yours and your scores are way below, naybe theres a bug or something, now i do believe ati is faster but the percentage is way off as a matter of fact other reviews has the x800pro and gt as equal in most benchmarks

Dpagan, the other reviews posted earlier backed up what was posted here, very similar results.

And why does everyone seem to have a 2500+ and a 6800GT??

i also performed this test at the same settings with a 6800gt with a 2500xp at 2.1ghz and 1gb ram i scored 53FPS, now i did see i purple light when repeating the bench seems like a bug of some sort and this did effect performance

Wow - that read took up my whole lunch break :)
Thanks Veridan for taking the time to show us the benchmarks, I will be looking into the X800 PE fairly soon I think.

Shame about the slander - but I guess you get that when ppl lack inteligence, good manners, respect and general common sense, the world would be a terrible place without them and they would be sorley missed!
