    Hi.

    Like many people, I'm completely new to Kx drivers and completely lost in front of Kx dsp. Unlike many people though, I'm not into making music, but into webradio : What I would like is to put some effects like the equalizer to my microphone to get a better voice, while avoiding these effects for mp3s played, so that I can set that directly and independently into Winamp.

    But honestly, I have difficulties understanding whether it is possible, and if yes, how...

    May someone help me getting started ?

    Welcome to kX!

    First, what card do you have?

    My sound card is a Live! 5.1, aka SB0102 5.1 [d400]. And in case you also need it, my version of KX is, according to the about dialog, the 5, 10, 00, 3534 - debug.

    I think I've found by myself, but it looks too easy to be that. :D
    Well, at least, I've been able to mix AC97+effect with FXBus 0/1. Now I need to be able to set all the other inputs (midi, games), and the other outputs (to be able to record, for example in Cool Edit Pro). But well, I think I'll succeed eventually.
    What I don't understand is, why does the default DSP configuration use so much microcodes that finally seems useless, like XRouting ? Is it necessary for something ?

    it's designed for "new" users, who are used to the mixer type applications. Once someone is used to the DSP they can design their own

    Quote from Doug W. "If you are using 3534, I don't think you will have the SRC plugin, but you can get around that."

    If I may add, download the latest stable version 3537, it has the Src plug-ins.

    And you're right, it is easy as cake once you get past the initial confusion.

    Hey Guys, I can't apply effects to my microphone, and I would like to know if the only way to do that is using Src Plugins in KX 3537, since I am using 3534, and this version doesn`t have Src Plugins.

    Just to confirm, the fisical microphone of the board is mapped to Prolog (in0, in1), right? So, if I disconnect these outputs, the microphone must turn mute, right?

    It is not happening. It seems the audio that comes from microfone is passing to to epilog directly. Does somebody know what may be wrong?

    0/1 is your line in. On my Audigy card, 8/9 is line2 / mic2.

    But I have tried with Mic2 too. More than that, I have tried with all the connectors of Prolog. It seems the microphone pass by other place, because I already disconnected all the outputs of Prolog and it still works (I can record from microphone even with all the outputs of prolog disconnected).

    Leandro,

    Forget what I said about 8/9, that was a mistake.
    Sometimes, things get messed up and you can mute everything and still get sound or unmute everything and get no sound. Better to create your own DSPs. You can apply effects to the mic and you don't have to have the SRC plugin.

    I have an older computer with a Cyrix 333 chip in it and I have 3534f installed in that one. Here is a DSP I made with Reverb on the MIC.

    http://www.usfamily.net/web/4stories/Images/MIC-REV.jpg

    Here's how to create it:

    Right click the kX manager at bottom right of screen
    Choose kX DSP

    Right Click the DSP and choose Clear DSP

    Right Click the DSP and choose
    Add Effect / Plugin->Default->Prolog

    Right Click the DSP and choose
    Add Effect / Plugin->Default->Epilog

    Right Click the DSP and choose
    Add Effect / Plugin->Basic->Peak

    Repeat to add another Peak

    Right Click the DSP and choose
    Add Effect / Plugin->Reverb Lite

    Right Click the DSP and choose
    Add Effect / Plugin->Basic->Stereo Mix + Gain

    Right Click the DSP and choose
    Add Effect / Plugin->Default->FXbus

    Add all the lines as shown
    To Detach a line:
    Right click a connection point and choose disconnect input
    When done, Right click Prolog which will open up the kX Mixer,
    click on AC97 mixer and make sure that mic is selected as input source.

    Right click Reverb Lite or Stereo Mix + Gain and choose TWEAK to mess with the settings.

    Once you get it working, Save it by clicking on the Save Settings icon in the DSP. Put it in the kX folder with a name like MIC-REVERB.kx

    If things get too mixed up you can always right click the DSP window and choose Reinitialize DSP and the default DSP setup will come back.
