    Eugene,

will there be EAX support in the near future for the KX drivers.

it seems these drivers are the only ones i can use with my audigy 2 since they don't cause it to crash in games. as i have seen many other users with same problems that have virtually tried anything.

btw: gr8 job on the current drivers (besides eax off course) :)

    nir:confused:

I have a feeling it would start crashing the moment eax is implemented. Really kx was born as an improvement for musicians and audiophiles and i think it should be kept that way. anyway that's my opinion and i don't have any right to speak, i've not donated (yet)

btw isn't the poll a bit biased? it'd be good to have fourth choice in the poll like NOT AT ALL, to make contrast with MUST HAVE :)

    miguel,

the "not important" answer is same as "not at all"

and I think as i said that you forget KX solved many and i mean MANY crashing problems of creative drivers.

almost all directX9 supporting games crash with creative drivers.

so i want ppl to VOTE so that maybe the demand will come from the public.

If you want the true public opinion you shouldn't choose an option as THE MAIN ONE hehehe Yes, very biased...

And if you want even people not using any 3d possiblity to vote, you should ask their opinion in the main folder and not in the 3d folder which they perhaps even don't read...

    EAX SUPPORT

I just want to commend that KX are indeed excellent drivers with
significantly enhanced performance in comparison to the latest Creative drivers (Dec/03)
more specifically, in 3DMARK03 Sound tests I had an improved of approx. 30% with my SB Live! 5.1 :D )
while providing 60 channel support on SBLive (Creative drivers only support 24).

Actually creative drivers performed slightly WORSE even than the SOUNDMAX AC'97-based
soundcard of my motherboard and I was about to throw the SBLive to the dustbin and curse Creative
for their awful software until I tried KX.

However, it is really a pity that EAX is not supported and there are some isues with DS3D thus spoiling somehow the overal impression.

Eugene, when you manage to add EAX support you will trully have achieved perfection !

    Keep up the good work!

    EAX SUPPORT

No, the soundfont support isn't better than the creative drivers yet

well, I have less issues with creative drivers when I use soundfonts (and yes, I tried all sorts of option with kx drivers, they still need a few more compatibility).

kx is best for music. It's best for home cinema based on PC (as i heard). Finaly it must becom best for gamers. The only one thig that's stoping me from installing kx - is bad eax support. I really need it 'cause i'm gamer

you don't need EAX for games, all EAX is a set of environmental audio presets - the only difference is that the sound will sound the same no matter where in the game you are

I think demand for full EAX will rise next year as games like BF2 take full advantage of 3.0 to improve battle awareness in-game. :)

Personally though i still get surround in my games & thats enough for me till the above mention game is released. ;)

I am not using Creative drivers for many many months...
So, is there any news about this EAX? I think - NO.
As I saw before, EAX is ONLY a DSP presets (few effects and settings for them).
You can make these preset by your own, save the DSP window and you are ready.
Almost all musicians do this all the time - different effects and connections, saved in many DSP settings files for any purpose.

surround sound is not EAX and EAX is not surround sound

    they are two unrelated technologies

Soundfonts always sound very distorted. It is too hard to include a non-soundfont device, similar to the windows default (like creative drivers do)?

I noticed that when I first installed kX (v3535 beta), when some game midis my brother listened to all of a sudden had vocals :D (so do the kX drivers also use SF for midis?).

I personally always enjoyed it when a game had decent EAX support, like reverbs. And I wouldn't think you could set up the effects yourself, since the games send commands to the drivers to change the effects parameters (I think  ).
