You are the first person I know to ever claim that a modern 4 core 8 thread CPU becomes the bottleneck (to paraphrase) running a game. That's why.

You don't get out much or don't read/watch/delve into much hardware reviews and application of scientific method for objective evidence showing that these products are already failing to keep up, do you?

the 6 core 12 thread cpus aren't being recommended for future use now.. they are being recommended because currently they are operating without any bottleneck for the most part in most games with generally a recommendation for 8 core 16 thread in the even they do anything more extensive, for the future or, specially multi-tasking while gaming.

However with the changes for physics incoming and specially CPU assisted ray tracing in the works too (as there's a few discussion ongoing in which it makes some sense), the explosion of additional cpu cores will entice developer to try and take advantage of all those additional resources, specially with the minimum core counts finally breaking away from 2 core 2 thread for uber budget builds. IF amd can/does actually release a bottom level ryzen cpu that is 6 core 6 thread or 6 core 12 thread for as cheap as suggested (i have doubts), then this can easily bring up the minimum spec option considerably which leaves devs a very good lowest common denominator to work with far surpassing the prior. It's expected that the athlon name will be slapped on the 4 core 8 thread and 4 core 4 thread cpus.

In either case, intel's in a boatload of trouble currently, and more so if amd launches 12 and 16 core cpus for standard desktops, and i'm REALLY excited to see how this plays out.

Is this a result of a Windows Update....OR???

For the past week or more, when I bring my PC up from sleep, the desktop icons are no longer restricted to my main screen. Instead, 4 rows are there, but anything more is pushed to the left side of the 3RD screen. I have to select them all and move them back to the main screen...where they belong. I've reverted to an earlier Radeon driver version....with no remedy from the drivers.

I've read several reports online of the problem....but, so far, no sure remedy other than selecting them all and moving them back to the main screen.

A development on the "icons on 3rd screen" issue: If I put the cursor on the main screen and do a Refresh, the icons return. This was NOT happening a few sessions ago.

Client of mine was having a similar issue with 3-way RX 480 setup. I suggested trying a program like Stardocks' Fences. You don't need to even buy the full version as the old free 1.01 version should work (just remember to install it as an Administrator), or you could even go with something similar like Nimi, or Tago. The idea was that your icons will always be in the "fence" you place them in, and on what screen you place the fence on. Or at least that was the idea. Seems to have worked for the guy.

Well, so far, and in 9 out of 10 times, if I simply Right Click on the main screen and select Refresh, all the icons come "home" and in the order I prefer.

And, for this to work, Auto Arrange has to be active.

Is your primary monitor DVI or HDMI?

Windows has a quirk where it will assign priority for HDMI connected devices over DVI ones. The last time I saw what you are describing is when the "main" monitor was DVI, but windows was listing it as #2, or secondary. At first icons would show up on the HDMI connected monitor, or what windows sees as #1 (primary), and then shifts to #2 once windows loaded completely (although in your case there seems to be a refresh delay). A workaround I found was to switch from a DVI to DVI cable for what I wanted to use as the primary monitor to an HMDI to DVI cable. That was running 2 monitors though. You have more than 2, right? So this might not help unless you can juggle the connections around.

The main display is my 49 in 4K HDTV connected with HDMI via DP adapter and listed as 1. The icons that get pushed off of 1 end up on 3. And, it's the rows past the five rows that stay on 1.

I finally bit the bullet and did a Windows 10 reset. I was getting an incessant "Your PC has encountered a problem...." Blue screen on every restart and/or shutdown.

THAT problem has been resolved, BUT, the icons on another screen still persists. However, it seems that ONLY if there are more than four columns of icons on the main screen. They can be put back on the main screen with a right-click refresh, though.

Well at least you solved the blue screen, we all hate blue screens.

Edit: concerning upgrading, I've since adopted the saying if it ain't broke don't fix it. Especially if it's already doing what it's supposed to do. Since I stopped playing video games my PC has been more than enough for me.

Hahahahaha! I really wish I still enjoyed games like you, for me the attraction has just worn off. I guess as people we are always changing, and that's a good thing instead of a bad thing. :)

Well this is embarrassing, having to walk back my words just weeks after saying them, do you have any recommendations of PC games with good stories?

As for PC games, the ones I've played most on PC would be the Assassin's Creed games. Origins was awesome...and very, very long. I'm eager to get into Odyssey but am on Red Dead 2 on XBOX and also Destiny 2 on XBOX at this time.

I played the crap out of the first Destiny and a bit of Destiny 2, Destiny is a game that never ends, and crack cocaine has got nothing on it.

Will look into playing the first Red Dead Redemption eventually.

+1 for Assassin's Creed games. I'm playing Origins and currently I'm going through Faiyum and I can say that it is one of the best portrayed and most beautiful game worlds (or parts of game worlds) that I have seen. Not hugely interactive past the (numerous) quests, but still very much alive and gorgeous.
