this is the crystaldiskmark results I just ran and I was wondering if they were ok or if something shows a failing hard drive. I desperately need for this to not just fail on me as it is my only computer.
    my hard drive is a
    Hitachi HTS722016K9A300

    which is 160GB and 7200RPM

If it's that important get another one anyway. Never underestimate the power of a backup.

Yeah that is my thought. I never trust my HDDs on my computers. All of my "drop dead" important stuff is backed up to a flash drive and on my server.

ok thanks guys i'll make sure to back things up and just go with it until I can afford to get a new HDD or an SSD which would be awesome though i know it is expensive.
Do drivers for HDDs make any difference because the one that is currently running is from 2006 i believe.

    never trust a hardrive..

however that benchmark/check test whatever.. doesn't tell you much of anything.

if you want to check your hd... run Hitachi's own diagnostics and see what it reports...

    always backup your important files.

i've about 5 copies of my important files floating around on disc, flash drives, extra hardrives...

every time I feel my drive is failing, I perform my backup. I agree, do not under estimate backup.
