Iam thinking of buying my first imac mainly for work. My 2012 mac mini is long inthe tooth for some time now.

I can't afford it so I will pay in monthly installments.
I was wondering if anyone has heard anythin about a refresh this year or not. I know there was one in March.

I just don't want to buyone and have thenew model come3 monthslater.

I thought this was Apple's normal marketing strategy...

I think he's up to speed with the current iMac lineup, but he's asking if there are rumours of another refresh later this year.

I'm really not in the loop that much, but I don't think Apple updates their computers that often. On the other hand, they seem to be fairly tight lipped about these things and don't appear to be following any particular patterns. iPhone launches are announced way in advance, but for the rest of their devices, they just happen, which means that it's both possible and hard to tell.

Apple tends to have a yearly model and usually 2-4 sub models within the year. You'll often find "early, mid, late" 'year' in the machine including some of the apple desktop models, not exclusive to the laptops.

Apple doesn't appear to have anything new arriving for consumers anytime soon necessarily, there's a lot of contracts and licenses floating about though, They did just launch some of the new stuff with the new improved vega, and it appears navi is coming much later.

There is a lot of talk about apple ditching intel though, most of which point to apple building their own processor... but there is a lot of doubt over that too. Some of it appears to point to a move to AMD processors but apple's own variation of the SoC design, but it's really hard to say, i wouldn't expect anything ground breaking for quite some time, since intel has utterly nothing to combat what amd is doing and all they can do is cannibalize the xeon that they had set for servers, crank their frequency up to try and compete and spit it out on usually a newer socket anyways since intel is making bank on ensuring that everyone has to swap boards far too often.

The 10 core is due to arrive soon, you can bet that apple may have a model launch either briefly before or after. Apple already has that 28 core behemoth that's insanely expensive and performance is well... what apple is known for...

Did you even read my question? Before getting upset, read it.
Or read what IvanV said in his first sentence.
