Well, had a fruitful discussion with Judas and basically it looks like I'll be waiting at least three weeks for the Radeon 7 to come out. Also I'll be swapping out the PSU for an 850W one as the one posted is too stronk.

Also he's going to look at different monitors for me, 1440p ones and pick the best ones out of the bunch and post them.

just quick things off the top of my head:

1: if the radeon 7 doesn't perform as they say... this could potentially and likely result in the vega 64's dropping in price... but who knows. (Just an FYI... the Radeon 7 has 16GB of vram, where as the vega 64 is 8gb)

    2: idealistically a 120/144hz 1440p displays in either 16:9 (2560x1440) or 21:9 (3440x1440)

3: definitely need to swap out that 2400mhz DDR4 in favor of AT LEAST 3200mhz CL16 in a 2x16GB configuration. It's going to be pricey, but that 3200mhz will make a very significant difference over 2400mhz. G.Skill definitely the way to go though.

4: and yes... typically a build like this i wouldn't go much above 750-850watt for breathing room. The Vega 64 tends to draw under non overclock conditions 300watts (which is there abouts for the radeon 7) roughly give or take and a 2700x plus other components aren't likely to exceed much beyond 200watts ... so 750-850 watts should put you in the ideal load zone with best efficiency and stability. anything over 850watt is definitely for those with more than one graphics card and crazy overclocking.

    HA!

Was on the phone with Judas again, and it looks like we've got everything set up just right now. Looks like I'll be going Nvidia again for the first time since 2011.

I still suspect that the Radeon 7 would have been a better buy... but it's unknown what it may actually turn out like until after i believe it's february 7th when it's launched worldwide for purchase.

Well, first and foremost I'm going to do the GTA series some justice and finish off GTA 5, I played it a bit on PS3 way back when but I didn't finish it, despite finding the game truly awesome.

Thereafter I'll probably play Battlefield 5 and then on to Anthem or The Division 2, whichever comes out first since those are the three games coming with my PC (I know Battlefield 5 is out already, but GTA 5 calls :D ).

I'd highly recommend Forza Horizon 4 if you want something with legit bitchen racing.... imo it's better than grand torismo Sport on ps4 pro.

OH... and seriously consider a VR headset... shits sweet. If you can setup enough room in which you can do in place VR with limb tracking and whatnot... it's simply fantastic.

Yup Forza Horizon 4 is on my radar for sure, and I do love 'em racing games, even on PC with a keyboard, as it stands my favorite racing game on PC as of now is GRID Autosport, but I'm sure Forza Horizon 4 is going to come along and demolish that notion.

1TB NVMe, G-SYNC display, 2080... Almost like seeing one of those "money no object" builds.
Although I'm late to the party my 2p is that Nvidia was a better choice imo. Other than Sapphire I found Nvidia cards more dependable over the years. Everyone's mileage will vary but I find AMDs fluctuate more. However, AMD is leading the way still with innovation.

Looks like a solid system. Give me a ping on Steam if you're online 7-10PM GMT and fancy a multiplayer that we both have :D

The stock of nvidia cards i've got... and the various retail and repair businesses i deal with say otherwise DEFINITELY in the hardware lifespan department.

Also statical data collection over many years show a consistency of AMD's older hardware continuing to improve over time to the point of exceeding the performance of nvidia graphics cards that used to have to have a clear performance advantage.

My only concern for the RTX 2070~>2080ti... is the fact that there is an absurd number of nvidia cards burning up, failing, very high failure rates within a short period of time. Combined with the now renamed and enforced "GPP" (geforce partner program) bullshit, 3rd party AIBs are left with painted red hands instead of nvidia.

I've been using a 360 controller on my PC ever since it was first available. Allows me to sit back and play on my 49in 4K screen from 10 feet away. Keyboard is for TYPING letters...not playing games...IMHO. :)

I'm thinking of buying some more RAM for the rig, what do y'all think? Should I get 8x2 more sticks of 8GB making it 32GB altogether?
