Got this email yesterday....
Suggests that Origin as a brand never worked. I vowed to never install that crap right from the start. In fact the EA branding is pretty toxic as well.
I use origin, no email notification for that news.
as usual EA changes it every few years. One more reason I never bother with them any more.
Still only have one game on origin...... even though i tried to get 2 other games but because their system is complete crap.... they would never accept payment.... and their tech support kept flipping me the finger and then throwing me a 10 dollar credit that would expire if i didn't ever make a purchase using it, which never solved the problem of not being able to purchase a bloody game in the first place.
It's been ages since I even started up a game on Origin. Just thought I would pass along the info, though.
I only have one game on Origin, The Sims 4.
Personally I've never had an issue with Origin except with THIS error while installing a couple games. Easily fixed though. Otherwise it's been good. I've got over 51 games on it, 2/3 of that was inputting old game codes in to register them with Origin.
If I could I would unload a diatribe towards the people at EA about the way they've led the gaming industry, how they've killed tonnes of games. Although they have been responsible for a lot of my favourite games in the past.
It has been quite a while since I bought an EA game. The main reason, for me, is that, when I've bought the boxed game off the shelf at the local store, and tried to install it, it failed to install UNTIL I contacted EA Support and then they would approve the key and I had to DOWNLOAD the game instead of being able to install from the disc. This happened on the last three games I bought and I decided it was just too much aggravation after having actually bought a hard copy locally.
Hard copies aren't hard copies.. they are glorified digital keys.
EA hasn't been responsible for much of any of the games made in a number of years.. if anything they are responsible for the reduction in quality of games they've got themselves involved with.
I would have loved to see Bioware NOT get involved with EA at all... i'm sure dragon age and mass effect and numerous other games they and other sub EA companies would have produced has they not been locked in.
