I've been having problems with my wi-fi connection in the past week or so. I'll try to logon to the internet and I get message errors that it can't connect to the internet. I've narrowed it down to the modem I think. Right now I'm powering down and then back on to get my wi-fi back. My current modem is a Netgear CM 1000 which is connected to Comcast.

Just to rule this out, when it happens again, try connecting using some other device, like a cellphone, tablet, or console.

When you say you "power down", is that the PC, router, or modem?

    What I would recommend:

    1) make sure your router has the latest firmware
    2) cycle the power on the modem to reinitialize it (just in case there was a firmware update that got uploaded to it, or some other update that is stuck or requires the modem to be rebooted)
    3) once the modem is back up and running reboot the router

Thanks, Tipstaff. I've been powering down the modem. Rebooting the PC does not help any.
