Stores here that used to donate such food now toss it... they can write it off on their taxes. Now they ask at the checkout if the customer wants to donate cash for the food banks... Thus they seem to still be "socially conscious"

I sure miss @Tyrsonswood. He must have been abducted by aliens or something, as there is an imposter that keeps logging in with his handle and then just staring at the screen. Sad really. Sad.

sell your country down the river, literally have a judge complaining that a rich white guy can’t get a fair shake these days.
dare to be a black guy in America though..

That unfortunate black guy got life because it was his third strike. He was previously convicted twice for burglary (and once for drug possession). Damn unlucky, but it's one of the fundamental mechanics of the US system.

As for Manafort, that sentence is a travesty. Quote from an article:
Apart from the restitution to his victims, he was only ordered to pay a $50,000 fine.

EDIT: I guess, in relation to the Manafort case, that things depend on the details. Sometimes, a person commits one crime, that's well defined by the law, and gets charged not with just that one crime, but every other crime the definition of which can more or less be technically met by the integral parts of his singular deed. At least that's the impression I got from how crime and trials are reported. And then, that person might get convicted for his "base" crime, which may carry a 7 year sentence, but he may also get convicted on five other counts (for things which are all parts of the thing for which he already got 7 years) and get, say, 1-3 years for each of those, ending up with a 17 year conviction for a "7 year crime", which may be excessive.

That's just me guessing and being the devil's advocate. Also, I'm pretty sure not everyone gets the same amount of consideration.

True facts: 75% of human brain is water; also, 75% of human feces is water.

Coincidence, you say? I'm not so sure...
