I've had the game now for about a week on the XBOX.

So far, it's quite a trip.

    The graphics are simply outstanding!

However, for me, the story is a bit discombobulated....a series of disjointed mini-stories.

I'm also not one who likes to be set on a quest that gets interrupted by someone with a snakebite, or a maiden in distress...which, if you don't interrupt your quest to take care of this poor soul, it counts against your status. This bothers me especially when I'm at least half way to my current quest location and the location where the emergency needs to get is across the map in the OPPOSITE direction. Sometimes, I'd just as soon shoot em and move on. j/k :)

But, all in all, the game plays well, looks great, and, I'm hoping the characters become more "fleshed out" as the story proceeds.

I'm glad you're having fun with this, Rockstar and Take Two never put out bad games.

The game has gotten more "fleshed-out" for me as I'm now in Chapter 3. Still getting some awesome screenshots, too!

Bringing this thread back to life.

I did go into the game, and picked up where I left off over a year ago when I started playing Odyssey.

I'm going to have to get use to the new controller scheme. ;)

So how are you finding it so far? I may buy RDR when it hits a really low price. I, like many other gamers, have a crazy back log to go through.

I'm in Chapter 4 of the game. The gang has a camp at a deserted plantation-type location outside the town of Rhodes. The story is finally getting to the point where John Marston - from the first game - is playing a more important part of the game..or at least included more in the escapades of the gang members.

I'm curious, will you be playing Red Dead Online at all?

No plans to do so. I don't play Elder Scrolls online, either.

Right, you're in it just for the story. Cool beans.

Yes, and I don't really care for all the distractions of others being on the screen at the same time. ;)

Even though my progress in this game is at a reasonable 44%, I'm still having difficulty getting into it like I did the original RD.

Sometimes sequels aren't as good as originals, other times we've just had enough of the game and don't want any more.

To me, it's just so slow-paced. I can find myself nodding off during parts of the game.

Have you tried GTA V? The story is awesome. It allows you to switch between 3 protagonists at any time, I haven't even completed the story 100% yet. I finished the campaign though.

I had the same problem as Dyre, I loved the first game but found the second one a chore/bore I eventually gave up on it ad sold it without completing the game, I just never found that it "got going" enough for me.

You asked before. I have a few of the earlier GTA games and never did finish any of them.

On the other hand, I loved the MAFIA games.
