how do I bribe stu to get a SSD then.. ??
I wonder how much improvement you will see with the virtual disk. (that's what it is still called, right?)
It should provide a very nice boost to daily computing.
I don't know for sure at the moment as i have not fully read the http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/1050/pg1/value-ssd-roundup-october-2010-introduction.html its the very same ssd used in the review...
I don't know if you have read the review either,If not the answer may be in there.
But so far in less than 24 hours already Win7 boots up in around 10 - 15 seconds compaired to the wd hd i had..Around 45-50 seconds after the bios screens that is..
Also every app i open up is very snappy too.
EDIT: The F40 is currently £88 in overclockers.co.uk... So its certainly a good freebie
yes I read it, but it's always nice to hear about it from a daily normal usage experience too.
Glad that it also feels good
While the price isn't too bad for the speed, I am kind of cheap on the matter of HDD £ per GB, so I rather wait some more.
As for a freebie, it's an excellent freebie!
Its about time Stu started looking after you Mig  Fast boot times are the first thing i noticed with a SSD drive. Shutdown is also very fast
Actually he has done so Chaos....
Not to long ago i received a Razer Arctosa Keyboard.
I also bought a a Razer Lachesis mouse and had issues updating the firmware (Win 7 issues) stu got involved.
Then stu sent me this SSD (always looked at the option) but i never went with the so called speed boosts...Until now that is...
As for the shutdown... My pc shutsdown in a max of 10 seconds...
Also as Cow asked if there is a performance increase in games.... Even though i now have my Win7 and the important utility's os the ssd... All others are on the previous WD HDD (Just need to defrag)...There is a difference in peformance... As for the ones i have tried open up much faster..
All i can say Thank you very much Stu (And the rest who may of been involved)
This is a very appreciated Gift...
BTW: Chaos some + Rep points has gone your way
I know he has I just had to say that You deserve to be looked after as you have been a dedicated News dude as far back as I can remember
Oh man, there is a good "pimp" joke in there, but I am too tired to try.
I can wait!
Ive got around 9gb left on my 60gb drive... most of its from "extra" bits of installations that go onto the C: for some reason despite another drive being selected
Especially all the Autodesk software (Revit, Autocad, Inventor and 3ds Max is what I have)
the Inventor download was 8gb in itself
Nah, I know I have a weird sense of humour, I don't want either Mig or Stu getting it wrong. I mean no harm.
Haven't posted anything in a while:
This card is so damn quiet! I can't hear the fans at all and runs cool too.
Omg I completely missed the launch of these.... nice job Crow!
Nice . what do you mean by a while , you have dominated this thread
only a 6850..
This to replace the 465 in your sig, or run in a different PC?
Running it on my x4 970 system, keeping the 465 on the i7
Separate names with a comma.
