Walmart employees are reportedly being instructed to remove signage, demos, and displays for entertainment products (including video games) that include violence or aggressive imagery in the wake of a shooting this weekend that occurred at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas.

So, if there is outrage against lung cancer, are they going to remove all toys that depict camels? Or cowboys?

In that case, Assassin's Creed Origins will be the first to go! ('cause you ride a camel in it)

It's amazing how much the nation overreacts to things. Always an overkill reaction that is inevitably pointless and ridiculous.

Some events require a reaction, but that reaction should be somewhat rational in order to achieve good effect.

I made a comment the other day that, before these "officials" start implicating video games as a causal influence for the mass shootings, it would be wise to first determine if the person responsible actually PLAYS video games. In one report, one of the shooters was actually consistently playing a DANCING video game and not known to have played the "violent" ones mentioned.

I grew up with Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Ponderosa, Dragnet, and many other "shoot 'em ups" and there were even then "officials" decrying the influence of these TV programs on the youth of the day then.

I also posted links to research that has debunked the claims of violent video games being the influence behind these actions. These knee-jerk reactions to these incidents isn't addressing the real cause...nor will the actions the officials are trying to take stop the violence, either.

Well Dyre, they are right you know. Before electronic entertainment, there was no violence.

The link is tenuous at best over the years I have met and interacted with 100's of gamers at LANs and events etc I regularly am still in contact with my old OcuK CS clan and as far as I am aware in all my circle of friends not one of them has gone off and shot a gun In anger in the real world.

Also if video games really did breed violent behaviour then I should be a psycho as I grew up on Shareware DOOM and then CS, Duke, More DOOM , Resi Evil, COD, mOH, GTA ...

However never have i ever stolen a car never killed a prostitute pulled a knife never shot a gun mugged or attacked anyone

I have to admit, though, that I am having a blast hunting down the cult and mercenaries in AC: Odyssey. :)
