Corsair AX860i Power Supply Review

Corsair AX860i – External

As with the box branding we find a red theme here mixed with silver, or more likely intended to look like platinum with the model name on the sides of the unit and an information sticker on the base. On the top we can see the black fan grill with the company logo in the centre and also visible are the screws holding the top on. These are not standard Philips head, instead we will need a T8 screwdriver to access the inside which is a common occurrence on recent Corsair units.

The PSU measures 150x86x200mm.

At the rear of the PSU we find the standard 3-pin socket, a rocker switch for on/off and the rest of the surface is perforated to allow air passage through the product. This is a fully modular unit so there are no wires at the other end of the supply, only sockets for the bundled cables. There are also two more unique items. The first is our Com Port which connects to the cable passing through to the Link controller. The other item is a self-test area which allows us to plug the PSU into the mains and upon hitting the button we get a short test where the LED will inform us that the PSU is working, or not.

Corsair AX860i modular cables

Corsair provide us with a mix of braided and flat cables on the AX860i. Our 24pin and CPU power connectors are individual. We get a single cable with two PCIe connectors on it as well as additional single connector PCIe cables then there are flat SATA/Molex (no mixed cables) and additional wiring for floppy drive style connectors.

The full list of cables provided by Corsair is as follows:

Connectors Included
ATX 24-pin
ATX 24/20 Pin
EPS 8 pin
EPS/ATX12V 8-4pin
PCI-E 6+2 pin
6+2 pin PCI-E
4-pin Molex
4-pin Peripheral/Molex
