Details on the upcoming RTX 3070 Ti & RTX 3070?

The RTX 3070 Ti & RTX 3070: future bestsellers?

Aimed at the price segment between €490 and €590, some details are starting to arrive on the upcoming RTX 3070 and 3070Ti and the Ampere range.

While the precise naming of these cards is still unclear, it seems that they are both equipped with the GA104 GPU. It’s a leak revealed by Kopite7kimi that reveals this information.

It is surprising to see a “Ti” version of the 3070 appearing right from the launch, but as mentioned above, we are not at all sure about the denominations. The card could even be called 3070 Super…

In theory, this 3070Ti would have the “complete” version of the GA104 GPU (GA104-400-A1) with a total of 3072 CUDA Cores. The card would be equipped with 8GB of VRAM, just like the “classic” 3070. By extrapolating a little and without prejudging the frequencies of this GPU, this 3070Ti could be, in terms of performance, at the level of a 2080S or even above.

As far as the RTX 3070 is concerned, the latter would have a “castrated” version of the GA104, the GA104-300. It would be equipped with GDDR6 (GDDR6X is expected for the 3070Ti). One should also count on this card 2944 CUDA Cores. There still, without going too far, one should be able to position this card at the level of a “traditional” 2080.
Finally, the RTX 3060 would be based on the GA106 with a target price around 300€.

The theoretical timetable for the arrival of the cards

The month of September was first mentioned as the launch date for the RTX 3xxx. However, if we want to talk about the market launch of these cards, our sources at various manufacturers tell us that they will not be available until October.

The launch would be in three stages: the very high-end at the start, then the 3070/3070S/Ti during November and finally the 3060 for December.

This information should begin to be refined in the coming days.
