EVGA & Zotac: raise the prices of their components!

EVGA & Zotac: raise the prices of their components!

Asus announced a price increase last week. The reasons behind this were the inflation of component prices as well as logistics. As we said, this is a general trend, so it is not surprising that Zotac and EVGA are doing the same.

EVGA & Zotac: prices are rising too!

EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 EVGA, for its part, warns users via their website where you can read :

Following the latest events, EVGA has made a price adjustment on the RTX 30 Series. These necessary changes due to various factors will be effective from 11 January 2021. EVGA has worked to reduce these costs as much as possible. If you are on the waiting list, EVGA will honour the original MSRP until 16 April 2021 if your purchase position is processed before that date.»

Our colleagues at TechpowerUp noticed a price increase of about $70 on the RTX 3000 graphics cards. Yes, it hurts.

And it’s not the biggest increase that could be observed. In fact, according to our colleagues, Zotac was also discreetly raising its prices. However, this increase would have been done in two stages. The first was in December 2020 and the second in January 2021:

  • 3060 Ti: from $440 to $500 then to $530 (+$90)
  • 3070: from $540 to $600 then to $640 (+$100)
  • 3080: from $750 to $780 and then to $840 (+$90)
  • 3090: from $1550 to $1580 and then to $1900 (+$350)

In France, we observe similar prices. On Top Achat, there is no RTX 3080 referenced at minus 800 €. For the RTX 3070, there are still a few rare models displayed at less than 650 €, but with 0 stocks. For the RTX 3090 the first prices are at €1700 while the card was advertised at $1500 and again no stock.

But when will it stop? Since, like the weather in Brittany (in this winter period, the summer weather is fine), the components market remains very gloomy. Between permanent breakdowns and rising prices, will we be able to continue assembling our PCs?
