Frost Commander 140 : a double tower fan unit from Thermalright !

Decidedly, Thermalright seems to be rather active lately. After its AMD CPU rip-off bracket and its revision of the Silver Arrow, here is that the brand proposes a new heatsink. This time, it’s a big guy in double tower format with the Frost Commander 140.

Frost Commander 140: a dual tower fan with 8mm heatpipes!

With this heatsink, the brand offers us a rather imposing reference due to its double tower format. In terms of dimensions, we have a model measuring 140 (W) x 121 (D) x 157 (H) mm, without fans.

However, what changes from the usual is the configuration of heat pipes. At this level, we find five 8 mm heatpipes instead of the usual 6 mm. Otherwise, each cooling block has 53 aluminum fins of 0.4 mm thick spaced 1.8 mm apart. Likewise, the latter are shortened at the bottom to maximize compatibility with the RAM.

Speaking of compatibility, the base will be off-center to limit the impact on the PCIe ports. And while we’re on the subject, you should know that this reference will fit on just about every socket on the market except AMD’s sTRX4.

On the ventilation side, we have a duo of fans with a TL-C12 Pro G in 120 mm and a TL-D14X in 140 mm. Different size = different characteristics and we have for each of them :

  • TL-C12 Pro G:
    • Speed range: Up to 1850 RPM ±10%
    • Airflow: 82 CFM max.
    • Static pressure: 2.1 mmH2O max.
  • TL-D14X :
    • Speed range: Up to 1800 RPM ±10% Air flow: 95.5
    • Air flow : 95.5 CFM max.
    • Static pressure: 2.25 mmH2O max.

To know the price, we will still have to be patient, the brand has not communicated anything about it.

Here is the Thermalright data sheet !
