Galax already on DDR5

Galax has just revealed that they are already working on high performance DDR5 ram kits. The brand showed on its social networks that Micron had already provided it with the DDR5 memory chips to make its new generation of memory dedicated to overclocking.

Galax DDR5 kits: the Grail of overclockers?

If all goes well, this memory should make its first steps at the end of the year with the new platform Intel Alder Lake-S and as we have seen with Rocket Lake-S, it should benefit from a lot of things to increase performance. As for AMD, we will probably have to wait until next year, with the change of socket and the arrival of the Zen4 architecture.

The move to DDR5 is a rather expected jump for performance enthusiasts as it has a wider voltage setting range, thanks to its improved PMI for power management. We’re talking about support for high-frequency overclocking with a voltage higher than 2.6V. In previous generations, the conversion voltage was controlled by the motherboard. With DDR5, the components have been moved with the memory and this could give considerably more leeway for overclocking compared to the past.
