Most notable is that now users can purchase and access the marketplace while in game instead of having to quit. When players buy an item from the in-game marketplace, Games for Windows Live will download and install the item in the background. Previous purchases can also be re-downloaded if needed. New anti-piracy features are included for Game publishers to take advantage of including Server-side authentication which can tie Gamertags to game licences, and zero day piracy protection which keeps games from launching before the street date set by the publisher.
