Real World Testing

For our real world testing we first run an encoding test with Adobe Media Encoder CS5.5. This test takes a 4GB RAW 1080p file and converts it to Blu-Ray format and is designed to take advantage of all system resources, including all 8 threads on our i7 CPU. Gaming is represented by a run-through of Shogun 2 at 1280×720 in DX11 mode and we also test the impact these kits have on our Windows boot time as well as an application load (Heaven benchmark). Finally we run stability testing on the modules using various applications such as Prime95 to stress the sticks and test their temperature with an Infra-Red thermometer.

Back on the synthetic page we saw minimal differences in performance between the two sets of modules and for CPU related tasks that is a similar case here. Our video conversion does change a little but boot and load times are close to identical. Where we see a decent boost is gaming though where the EVO sticks offer higher framerates, ideal for gamers. On the other hand the Enhance modules run a little cooler thanks to the lower speed/voltage.
