GeIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 and Evo Corsa DDR3 Dual Channel Kits Review

When overclocking our memory we take two approaches. In the first we find out what the tightest timings are when using the stock voltage. In the second scenario we open up the timings to change and run all of the modules at 1.65v.

  Stock OC Stock
OC Looser
Timings 1.65v
Enhance Corsa
@ 1.5v
Evo Corsa
@ 1.65v

For overclocking the way that memory works on recent Intel chipsets and the inability to change the BCLK in any significant way makes overclocking slightly less flexible than older platforms, though it does make configuring modules easier at their rated speeds. Therefore we must play with the multipliers which gives us some decent overclocks on the Enhance, easily working at their 1700MHz XMP settings and even running at 2000MHz with more voltage and looser timings. The Evo modules ran right at our motherboard’s limit in terms of MHz and we were even able to bring in the timings a little at this speed which shows they had more to offer.

To test performance at our maximum overclocks we have created a custom test which stresses the memory and system with the time taken to complete the test recorded and documented. The test includes the time taken to boot into Windows, open a number of applications when at the desktop environment (including Adobe Photoshop, Premier Pro and various other demanding programs) and then complete a 1080p encoding test. The results are as follows:
