GELID GC1 – Test & Performance

System Setup
– Intel Core 2 Duo e6400
– Asus p5q-e
– Tuniq Tower 120
– Gigabyte 9600GT Turboforce
– 2x G.Skill 1GB DDR2-800
– Samsung CD-RW/DVD
– Maxtor DiamondMax 10 250GB
– Cooler Master Centurion 5

For this test we decided to compare the Gelid GC1 to the popular Arctic Silver 5. The packaging even has a graph located on the back with a comparison against Arctic Silver 5 so we felt it would be an appropriate benchmark. We tested both compounds under idle and load conditions at several different clock speeds. To achieve idle temperature we left the machine sitting on the desktop for 15 minutes and took the temperature reading with CPUID Hardware Monitor. For the load test we used Cinebench 10 to simulate a real world load situation.
