Gigabyte Aivia Osmium Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

User Experience and Conclusion

Straight out of the box it is clear that the Osmium has continued the very high build quality that we have seen from previous Aivia products. The keyboard as a very solid feel to it and has a decent weight for a mechanical keyboard, not to heavy but it feels solid in our hands. The lighting on the Osmium is a nice touch, and the ability to lower the brightness on it on the fly using the scroll wheel, or even switch it off completely.

Setting up the Osmium was very simple with its plug and go capability. We easily found the software and drivers on the Gigabyte website and once installed the keyboard worked perfectly. We have seen the GHOST macro engine used in some of the gaming mice we have reviewed from Aivia and we found it to be very good in the past and it works equally as well on the keyboard.

The keys on the Osmium have an excellent quality to them with a satisfying action when pressed. The anti-ghosting function provided with the Osmium is also very good, and we found that unless we really smashed our hand down on the keyboard it was able to deal with most excessive key presses.

The Osmium carried a retail price of around £100, which while at the higher end of the mechanical keyboard market is still cheaper than some other direct competitors. This places the Osmium in a very competitive place for anyone looking for a new mechanical gaming keyboard but it compares well.

Summary
The Osmium is another quality product from Aivia. With a very high build quality, good software support and macro control. With USB 3.0 support the Osmium sets a high standard for mechanical gaming keyboards.
