Intel 510 Series 250GB SSD Review

Intel Solid-State Drive 510 Series (250GB) Review

Install Times (Windows/Office 2010)

Installing Windows, chances are that all of us have to do it at one point or another and while it is not essential to have fantastic performance in this area, it is a good test for writing a large amount of data to the drive in a short space of time. This is especially useful due to the fact the variation in file sizes being written is huge. The time taken is recorded from the moment we begin the install, after partitioning and formatting to when the prompt appears where we choose our username.

Installing Windows 7 on the 510 Series is a simple process, even on a motherboard with the latest SATA 6GB/s controller. For our P67 based motherboard we simply ran the installer, selected the drive (formatting and partitioning to our needs) and then less than seven minutes later our operating system was ready to use.

Benchmark Results

Throughout the review we have seen the 510 Series outperform the currently available competition and that continues in our program installation test where the Intel model edges out the other drives by a few seconds.
