Intel confirms the refresh of Tiger Lake processors

Launched last September, Intel Tiger Lake processors will undergo a refresh before giving way to Alder Lake mobile at the end of the year.

Higher frequencies and new LPDDR5 memory for Intel Tiger Lake R

With the 10nm engraving improving, Intel will multiply the processors using this process: the Xeon Ice Lake launched this month if, Tiger Lake H to arrive in May, Tiger Lake R which would be expected for the third quarter just before the arrival of Alder Lake for mobile and desktop.

Intel Tiger Lake Refresh

Arrived last September, the current Tiger Lake U offer up to 4 cores 8 threads with a frequency up to 4.8 Ghz in an envelope of 28W (35W versions up to 5 Ghz also exist), all accompanied by a Xe-LP iGPU with 96 EU.

On the memory side, the processors officially support DDR4-3200, LPDDR4 X-4266 and LPDDR5-5400, but the latter is not available at the moment. That’s why Intel will launch in Q3/Q4 (?) a refresh of Tiger Lake that can use LPDDR5 and thus have a significant performance gain.

This refresh would concern only the Tiger Lake U (15-28W) and not the Tiger Lake H, which should be released in May and offer up to 8 cores 16 threads.

Finally Intel confirms once again that the Next Gen Alder lake, for desktops and laptops will arrive at the end of the year.
