Aimed at enthusiasts it was followed soon after by processors from the i7, i5 and i3 families on Socket 1156 which brought the new architecture to a more mainstream price point. Since then Intel have been slowly releasing new models on each socket, tweaking their line-up to offer various value and performance options for consumers. In recent times we have seen a number of impressive desktop and laptop systems based on the Socket 1156 platform but that hasn’t stopped Intel from trying to enhance their product line-up and so on our test bench today we have an evolution of the Core architecture in the form of Intel’s "Sandy Bridge" components.
