Interview with Dan Ragland, overclocking mister at Intel

Yesterday, we came across this Youtube video dedicated to the interview of Dan Ragland, one of the Intel engineers in charge of overclocking, by Marcus Yam. This very interesting interview was an opportunity to come back on the existence of overclocking, its beginnings, the different innovations over the years and of course on the eleventh generation, with the Rocket Lake, which will soon arrive. The idea is to talk about the new overclocking features that will come with these new processors. Beyond that, this discussion also allows to realize the important place taken by overclocking, from the beginning and the design of a new CPU architecture as well as the discussion and the elaboration of motherboards with the different partners.

He especially talked about the performance of memory overclocking by revealing some information. First of all, the Rocket Lakes will support much higher memory frequencies than the previous generation. The overclocking capabilities should also be better with the arrival of “ Gear 2 “. The other element to take into account is that memory overclocking will no longer be limited to Intel “K” models but to all other processors. It will therefore be interesting to judge the contribution and the gains obtained via memory on certain large applications but also in games.
