The name of this product (CSB) is relatively indigestible so let’s take a few moments to look at the product’s promise. A screen that folds itself Obviously, as you will have understood, we are not on an ordinary OLED tile for this screen. It can work in several ways. For example, it can be used as a standard flat screen when you are watching streaming or movies. However, at the touch of a button, the screen can automatically convert to a curved screen with a radius of up to 1,000R. The aim is to have a “2 in 1” screen that can behave like a family TV or gaming monitor. To achieve this, the tile will take on a curvature that allows for a more immersive experience during the game. The display has a response time of 0.1ms and is compatible with Freesync technology and can therefore adopt refresh rates from 40Hz to 120Hz. This last limit is still relatively fair for high-end PC gaming, so it will be reserved for the new Microsoft and Sony consoles. But also a screen that “talks” The tile that manages to take a curve automatically when you switch to gaming is not the only innovation on this screen. The tile to produce sound, which gives the impression that speech and audio effects come directly from the image on the screen rather than from the side or underneath the screen. This function is provided by an ultra-thin 0.6mm film exciter that makes the screen vibrate while keeping the thickness of the TV to a minimum. Let’s not get carried away, even if all these effects are of interest to us, we are more about a trade fair concept than a pre-series. The cocktail OLED screen of large size + automatic curvature + vibrating screen will probably only be accessible to the most elitist players…if the product is ever released. LG nevertheless announces some other surprises for the CES, which goes online in a few days. We’ll follow all this of course. Share On
