M.2_VGA: ASRock announces a graphics card in M.2 2280 format!

ASRock is a new product from ASRock which announces a graphic card in a very unusual format. Indeed, the corporate branch of the brand offers us its M.2_VGA, a graphics card in M.2 format. So, what are we dealing with here?

M.2_VGA: a c16 MB M.2 graphic artefacts at ASRock!

Clearly, with this solution ASRock is not looking for the 60 FPS in 4K on Cyberpunk 2077 with full RayTracing. Here, this product is intended for business use by meeting basic display needs, all in 1080p. At the same time, this little chip can’t afford to do otherwise.

In terms of configuration, ASRock’s card has a Silicon Motion SM750 and 16 MB of on-board DDR1. As far as the interface is concerned, here we are dealing with a PCIe 3.0 x1, all in M.2 2280 format. Everything also seems to be compatible with M and B type connectors.

As can be seen, the video output, here a VGA port, is remote on a PCIe bracket. In addition, an auxiliary Molex power supply is present.

For the moment, no idea of the price although it would be interesting to know it. Nevertheless, it shouldn’t look very far given the configuration and the intended use. Moreover, the idea is interesting since the use of an M.2 port for a GPU makes it possible to reduce the space occupied or even save a PCIe inside a rack for example.
