M8V Plus: new Plextor SSDs in 2.5″ and M.2!

Plextor announces a new generation of SSDs. Here are the M8V Plus, a series of SSDs in two formats. In addition to the classic 2.5″, the brand also offers its models in 2.5″!

M8V Plus: SSDs that come in two different formats!

As we told you, the manufacturer offers its new models in two different formats: 2.5″ and M.2 2280. Despite its M.2 format, we are dealing with SSDs equipped with a SATA III interface, no PCIe here. So forget about data rates of several GB per second.

In any case, we are dealing with an SSD equipped with a Silicon Motion SM2258 controller. For memory, the brand is supplied by Toshiba with its Kioxia memory. We are talking about 96-layer NAND TLC, to offer 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB capacities. In addition, an SLC cache is present, as well as Plex Compress technology which will compress files that have not been used for some time during the idle time of the SSD.

In terms of throughput, the brand speaks of sequential throughputs of up to 560 MB/s and 520 MB/s for reading and writing. For random performance, 90k IOP and 88K IOPS read/write are mentioned. All of this is for the 1TB model, depending on the capacity, rates/performance may vary.

For the moment, we still don’t know the selling price of these models. However, we do know that the warranty will be 3 years.
