MSI : Graphics card prices will continue to rise !

Bad news if you were planning to buy a graphics card from MSI. We learn, via Digitime, that the brand with the dragon will continue to increase its prices. Moreover, the cause is not only related to the GPU shortage that is currently hitting the world.

MSI will continue to raise the price of its products..

The first thing to know is that despite the current market for computer components, the brand is in good health. In 2020, year on year (2019 –> 2020 so), the company has seen its product shipments increase by 30% to 50%. This regarding the market for graphics cards, motherboards and gaming laptops. In 2021, this progress should not stop there, with the company’s progress to be counted in double digits.

In fact, 2020 was a great year for the brand. According to Digitimes the firm saw its profit rise to $276.97M, an increase of 42% compared to 2019. This year should be just as good since, in this month of February alone, the manufacturer has a turnover of NT$13.6B (US$460M), an increase of +63.06% compared to 2020.

Especially since the brand’s sales are likely to be boosted soon. Yes, we have to keep in mind that Intel will be launching its 11th generation Core ixx and its Z590 chipset, which will mean new motherboards for sale for the dragon brand. The same goes for nVidia, which is expected to flood the GPU market in the second quarter.

Hausse des prix

So, why do we keep raising the prices of components? Simply to keep revenues up. Behind all this, we have of course, the shortage of GPU which has an influence (in addition to the high demand), but it is not the only factor. Indeed, we must also count the import costs that are rising, as well as logistics costs and the price of hardware.

The logic is therefore simple: to develop, we cannot count on volumes, so we make up for it on prices!
