NH-P1 : it’s finally here, Noctua’s passive cooling unit is launched !

The NH-P1 is the big fanless heatsink from Noctua. This has been the talk of the town since it first appeared at Computex 2019. Since then, the heatsink has been pushed back, but this time it’s the right one. Indeed, the Austrian brand formally announces its heatsink!

NH-P1: the fanless cooler from Noctua finally arrives!

Noctua NH-P1This product is one of the few fanless fans to have appeared on the market. Thus, we find an imposing product measuring 154 (W) x 152 (D) x 158 (H) mm. The weight is also important with its 1180 g on the scale … Without fan. Despite everything, it does not oppose the compatibility with the RAM.

As you can see, the construction changes radically from the classic aircooling fans. It is not a simple fanless cooler, but a product designed to be passive. It is equipped with thirteen aluminum fins of great thickness particularly spaced. The objective is to promote the natural convection of heat. Similarly, to convey the heat, there are six nickel-plated copper heat pipes, each 6 mm thick.

However, the question is the cooling capacity of this model. At this level, with a Core i9 11900KF, the brand announces that the CPU could run slightly below its base frequency in passive mode. On the other hand, the addition of an NF-A12x25 LS PWM, it holds, but you will not have to go into overclocking.

On the AMD side, we will also avoid being too greedy. For example, a Ryzen 5 5600X would run slightly below its base frequency in fanless when you need to add a fan with larger processors. All this information can be found at this link.

We finish with the price which is 109,90 € against 29,90 € for the NF-A12x25 LS PWM. In broad outline, it is a NF-A12x25 running at low speed: 1200 RPM max and generating an airflow of 55.7 m3/h and a static pressure of 0.82 mmH2O. This is the mill recommended by the brand depending on the CPU under which the NH-P1 will be installed.

Here and here are Noctua’s datasheets !
