XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB XXX

XFX are not a company who vary their products much from generation to the next. In fact other than the inclusion of Lost Planet the above bundle is pretty much the same we received with their GeForce 7 series cards. That is not necessarily a negative aspect as everything we need to get started is included. In terms of packaging the XXX edition card uses “Alpha Dog Edition” branding which is similar to their other recent 8800 series cards. The enhanced core speed is noted on the box as are various other specifications that consumers will find useful.

The XXX edition card looks like most other GTS models from every angle. The new style cooler with angled fan housing is adorned with an XFX sticker, though no mention of XXX is used.

Underneath the cooler is a G92 core (65nm) and features one hundred and twenty-eight unified shaders. Memory is Qimonda HYB18H512321BF-10 DDR3 chips which are rated up to 1000MHz. As the core on this model is clocked at 678MHz and the memory at 986MHz everything is running within specification. Shader clock speed on this model is 1728MHz, which is also above the Nvidia reference specification. This is a DirectX 10 card with PCI-Express 2.0 support, high definition video acceleration is also included as is HDCP.
