NVIDIA adds official support for Vulkan ray tracing

It’s a small revolution with the official support of Vulkan ray tracing in Quake II RTX through a new Game Ready driver. Quake II RTX also has a built-in benchmark that allows you to compare how different GPUs use it. This is currently the only benchmark available to evaluate it. Vulkan ray tracing “The introduction of ray tracing into Vulkan has been a multi-year effort by many companies and NVIDIA has taken an active leadership position in every stage of its evolution. We have been elected to chair the sub-group at Khronos, we have contributed to the design of our extensions at Khronos to help the Vulkan working group make rapid progress, and we have provided drivers for the draft version of the Vulkan ray tracing extension to allow developers to provide feedback to the sub-group. We are now the first to adopt these extensions in a game (source: NVIDIA). To find out, get the latest Game Ready driver and download Quake II RTX on Steam. A trial version with the possibility to test the first three levels is still available. No need to own a GeForce RTX as it can be played on any compatible GPU (list and info here).
