Nvidia Ampere: first scores on 3DMark Time Spy

If there’s one product gamers have been waiting for this year, it’s certainly the next generation of NVIDIA Ampere graphics cards. After the possible specifications that have been leaked lately, we have the right, today, to a 3DMark Time Spy benchmark of this future Ampere graphics card.

30% better than 2080 Ti?

This screen comes from rogame and it mentions a graphics card with the mention “Unkown Nvidia Ampere”. This one has been “tested” by an employee of the 3DMark firm. As you can see, the benchmark used is Time Spy (1440p). The card in question would have a Boost Clock frequency of 1935 MHz and the memory would run at 6000 MHz. As stated by the source, this frequency does not correspond to anything already known on 3DMark.

Let’s get down to brass tacks: the scores. This new card hits very hard, scoring 18257 points under TimeSpy. It’s up to the level of KINGPIN’s 2080 Ti, while having almost 450 MHz less! Impressive. Moreover, compared to a 2080 Ti Founders Edition, the card has 31% more performance.

Of course, these are only test examples, the performance should improve, especially with a possible increase in frequency. As a reminder, the new NVIDIA gaming cards are expected by the end of the year. They should benefit from the GA102 chip, which would be etched in 10nm Samsung (and not in 7nm) from TSMC. Finally, they would have 5376 cuda core and up to 24GB of memory.
