Nvidia RTX3070 vs Radeon RX6800 in 41 games

Although the 6800XT/6900XT and RTX 3080/90 have been the focus of our attention recently, a more accessible fight should not be overlooked with the RTX3070 and RX6800. These two cards seem to be relatively more available these days.

RTX3070 VS RX6800: the choice of games

The test platform used by Techspot is equipped with a Ryzen 9 5950X CPU. However, it is important to note that the SAM (Smart Access Memory) technology was not activated throughout the test. Some will consider that this is a fairer way of looking at things, especially for future buyers who are not on an AMD CPU. For our part, we believe that this technology, which is accessible and functional on an AMD platform, should be taken into account. We have sufficiently explained that it could, according to the will of the brands, be used indifferently from platforms / GPUs…It is therefore a pity to penalize AMD which has made the effort to deliver it 100% functional for its customers. The cards used in these tests are the RTX 3070 Founders Edition, while the Radeon GPU will be represented by the AMD reference card, both running in “stock” version without overclocking. The following two tables focus on 1440P and 4K resolutions, although the results in 1080P have also been analyzed. The AMD card is used as a reference. Conclusion: AMD must make an effort

The figures speak for themselves and AMD could have made it easier. However, by wanting to position its card between the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080, it is making things more difficult for a potential buyer. The issue of DLSS support and raytracing performance then returns to the table. Apart from the price, the choice is unquestionably the RX 6800. But AMD has decided to position its card differently and this will make a lot of buyers hesitate if AMD doesn’t decide to lower its price. Au will also be able to evoke the 16gb of Vram of the RX6800 compared to the 8Gb of the RTX3070. A situation that will weigh in the balance in favor of AMD in the not so distant future with the arrival of the massive texture packs…But that’s not for the next 15 days. We put here, failing to find the AMD founders and equivalents, two aggressive references of these two GPUs to give you an idea of the prices.
